The 1st Scandinavian Critical Dietetics Conference

Food and eating beyond calories

This conference aims to introduce Critical Dietetics as an approach to Scandinavian dietetic practitioners, food workers and researchers. Critical Dietetics examines practices of dietetics, clinical research, and "dietary trends”, based on critical social theory. It includes an understanding of food and health beyond the medical or nutritional perspective. This approach has emerged among dietetic practitioners and researchers as a reaction to the perspectives that currently dominate our society, health care and nutrition research. It is a reaction to the fact that food's social, cultural, politic and symbolic significance often is ignored in favor to its nutritional value. It is also about demonstrating and questioning how this reductionist approach to eating is a social and political construction. Among keynotes speakers in this conference you will find initiators of the Critical Dietetics and also national and international experts in topics of relevance for the field.

Registration is open 31 March-10 August 2017.

Seating is limited to 70 attendees. Should more people register, they will be placed on the waiting list.
